“Art has always been the raft onto which we climb to save our sanity. I don’t see a different purpose for it now.”
– Dorothea Tanning (1910-2012, American painter, printmaker, sculptor, writer, and poet)
Recent events have brought immense social and societal upheaval, to which no one is immune. And people have long looked to art as a way of coping with, expressing, understanding, and escaping from change in the world we live in. This exhibit is to showcase how artists are responding to global issues, from Environmental Awareness and Natural Disasters, to Politics and Government, Racial, Social, and Economic Inequality, Gender Identity and Representation, Mental Health, and more. Your response might be a sculpture, an oil painting, pastel painting, or maybe it’s finger painting or doodling on a napkin. All forms of art, expression, and technique are welcome. How are you using your art to cope?Learn More
