The Mouth of Truth Green Man is based on an old legend from Italy. If you were place your hand or finger on his tongue and start to tell a lie…you better move your hand quickly or he will bite down on it! Only telling the truth will save you.
*****NEW****The backing depth is now either 1/2 inch, flat backed, not shown, or 1.5" hollow back, free standing as shown, depending on your choice.

I've been working on this sculpture for a long time, getting it just right, from his Oak leaves to the acorns…but I love how he turned out!
He has a hollowed out back to make light weight and a wire so he can be hung upon a wall or sit on a table or shelf. Each sculpture is individually cast and finished so is unique in color and feel.
Of course this Green Man makes a great gift…or maybe keep him for your self? Good for interior & exterior made from polymer modified cast stone.

MEASUREMENTS:

Luna in a Weathered Iron finish, classical architectural bronze detail, womens face, repro victorian paperweight, Cast Shadows Studio by CastShadows

"Luna" in a Weathered Iron finish is reminiscent of weathered building ornaments from the early 1900's, with a slight orange rust on iron look. She is a reproduction of a Victorian cast iron paperweight, with a sweet face and a classical feel to her. There is a wire imbedded in the back so it will hang flush against the wall.

Where can you put her? I thinks she makes a very nice Gothic decor element, as well as a Steampunk ornament, or even the perfect Renaissance style gift!

Irving Gargoyle statue, small Gothic Imp, New York, Handmade, Cast Stone Sculpture, Cast Shadows Studio by CastShadows

This listing is for one "Small Irving", a little Impish character that was inspired by one of the many terracotta reliefs that decorate a prewar building, 81 Irving Place, NY. The street is named in honor of the famous author of "Sleepy Hollow" & "Rip Van" Winkle…Washington Irving.

I first sculpted him in 1993, he was an immediate favorite at he gargoyles shops we sold him to. This small( 3.5in.) version was first introduced in 2011
You may recognize him from the cover of the book, “Nightmares in the Sky”, a photographic documentation that features many gargoyles and grotesques.

Small Irving, from Cast Shadows Studio, sits at three and a half inches tall upon a one and a half inch diameter base. Each sculpture is individually hand cast and finished so is unique in color and feel.
This sculpture is cast in a very strong polymer modified gypsum cement, it has the feel and strength of stone. It sits on any flat surface. Finished to have the look of an antique weathered stone carving, its perfect for interior and exterior use.

MEASUREMENTS:
The sculpture measures approximately 3.5" tall by 1.5" wide with the base being 1.5" Dia.

Bamberg Green Man, cast stone leaf face, greenman, Garden ornament, Renaissance element, medieval sculpture, Carved gothic corbel, Chalifour by CastShadows

The Bamberg Green man is one of most famous of all Green Men, the "archetype" so to speak. He is situated under the statue of the Rider. He gazes intently off to one side, as if he heard something! It is primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of growth each spring.
He also makes a great Fathers Day gift perfect for the wall of the home office, private library or man cave!

I painstakingly recreated this sculpture in 1994, using only one photo as reference…but I love how he turned out! He has a hollowed out back to make light weight and a wire so he can be hung upon a wall or sit on a table or shelf. Each sculpture is individually cast and finished so is unique in color and feel.
This Bamberg Greenman is a great gift, good for interior & exterior made from polymer modified gypsum cast stone.

The original piece was carved from dark gray limestone in 1237 by an anonymous medieval stone carver. His watchful gaze peers out from acanthus leaves in the form of a corbel. This carving is one of the supporting brackets for the Bamberg rider, in the nave of the Bamberg Cathedral. To this day, the corbel on the other side has never been carved and the Greenman alone supports the Rider.

Green Man Keystone-Small Victorian Architectural Ornament by CastShadows

This "Small Green Man Keystone" in Antique Stone finish is a perfect little something for any one who loves architectural details.

Carved keystones can be found on many Victorian buildings, including the brownstone townhouses common to big cities. This one is based on a stone carving from New York City. He was inspired by a photo from “Nightmares in the Sky,” a book that features many photographs of gargoyles and grotesques.

Each keystone is handmade, being cast in molds taken from the original clay sculpture and then hand painted.

This sculpture is cast in a very strong polymer modified gypsum cement, it has the feel and strength of stone. It has a hanger for the wall. Interior and exterior use.

MEASUREMENTS:
The "Small Green Man Keystone" measures approximately 2 1/4" tall, 1 5/8" wide at the top and 5/8" thick, from the tip of his nose to the back. 5.715 cm tall x 4.1275 cm x 1.5875 cm.

Sea god tile, 4×4 inch square Verdigris over Copper, Man's face with swirls and trident. grand old theater decor, Sculpted by Chalifour by CastShadows

Here is the Sea god tile done in a verdigris, inspired by classical depictions of Neptune and Poseidon, with his tridents and crown of shells.
Flowing hair, surrounding his face, swirls and seaweed mustache, done in Verdigris patina over copper finish, this sculpted art tile would fit right in an Italian grotto.

Several stylistic influences included are, Art Deco, Arts&Crafts and Beaux arts, that can add a little extra touch of interest to a home or garden. With the feeling of a vintage architectural detail, he also looks great as a little eye catcher for adding to interior moldings around a doorway.
He is also reminiscent of the interior decorations in a grand old movie theaters and Summer palaces!
I sculpted this element recently for a customers who is building a beautiful Arts& Crafts style home, they loved both the Sea god and Sea goddess tiles!

Just a reminder, any piece I make in the Copper finish can also be done in Verdigris, just leave me a note requesting that patina.

Green Women Corbel- Parliament House-wood/ terra cotta finish-Victorian Gothic architectural ornament-Cast Shadows Studio- Richard Chalifour by CastShadows

The Parliament house "Green Women Corbel" is one of the many Gothic embellishments from the exterior of Westminster Palace, London.
The Victorian carving has features that are somewhat androgynous and this may or may not be a Green Women. This listing is for a wood/ Terra Cotta finish. There is a wire imbedded in the back so it will hang flat against the wall.

The Hypnotist gargoyle, wall art sculpture, Chicago Gothic, Halloween horror, carved stone casting, architectural detail, Richard Chalifour by CastShadows

The Hypnotist was one of my very first gargoyle creations!
He was inspired by examples of architectural elements from the city of Chicago. Terra Cotta sculpture was just starting to be used due to the Great Fire, and these kiln fired building ornaments were made to look like limestone carvings, but at a fraction of the cost. Quicker to make, less costly & fire proof made this type of ornament ideal for a modern city, way back in the early 1900's.

Old Limestone finish shown.
Being applied by hand, variations in the finish such as contrast or color can occur, if you would like, you can make requests in "Notes to the Seller" as to how you would prefer your finish, such as lighter or darker than shown in photos, etc.

It's the perfect accessory for any Gothic garden or Renaissance room.
Handmade from my original sculpture, created in 1993, and finished to have the look of Old Limestone, giving the feel that it's a piece of architectural salvage.

Quality is one my main goals, and this sculpture is cast in a very strong polymer modified gypsum cement with stone aggregates. It has the feel and strength of stone. It has a recessed hanger so that it hangs flat on the wall.

The sculpture measures approximately 9 1/2" high by 81/2" wide by 3 1/2 " deep. Weighs about 4. lbs
